As an accomplished solo & collaborative pianist, Dr. Judy Hung has had the pleasure of traveling across Canada, the USA, Europe, and Asia working with many talented musicians of all levels. She has served as a collaborative pianist at McGill University, Marianopolis College, Syracuse University, Louisiana State University, San Francisco Conservatory Preparatory Division, and has worked as a vocal coach and pianist for the Syracuse University Opera Workshop, as well as at the Le Moyne College Music Theatre. An experienced church musician, she has worked as an organist and pianist for Grace Episcopal Church and St. Peters Episcopal Church in Syracuse, NY; University Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA; and Chinese Baptist Church in San Francisco, CA. Currently she is the music director at Valois United Church in Pointe-Claire, QC.
Judy has performed regularly with violinist Richard Roberts; she is a founding member of Trio les Amies (with violinist Sophie Dugas & cellist Joanne Grant) and Trio du Lac (with violinist Richard Roberts and cellist Gary Russell). She has performed as a collaborative pianist at Concours de musique du Canada, Sorel Music Festival, Classival Music Festival Valleyfield, and Festival de la Voix of Montreal. She has performed at concert series at Stewart Hall Cultural Centre, Hudson Chamber Music Concert Series, St. Columba Concert Series, Valois Concert Series, to name a few.
Judy is the winner of Syracuse University Piano Concerto Competition and Sewanee International Music Festival Chamber Music Competition. She has completed a master degree in piano performance at Syracuse University on a full fellowship. Her principal teachers are Michael Gurt, Steven Heyman, Pan-an Chen (solo & collaborative piano); Laurette Goldberg (harpsichord/fortepiano); Bonnie Choi (harpsichord); Herndon Spillman, Kola Owolabi (organ). She has worked in masterclasses and coachings with Ann Schein, Anne Epperson, and Phillip Moll.
